A timestamp is an encrypted code generated by an official institution called a Timestamp Authority. It electronically links your design’s data to a particular time, thus establishing legal evidence that that data existed at that time. When you upload a design on Drawy, it is electronically sent to a Timestamp Authority, which instantly generates a unique timestamp. The combination of your file and its unique timestamp is then translated into a nice timestamp document. This pdf contains all kinds of information, such as the date and time on which your design was timestamped, the owner of the design at the time, a unique deposit reference, etc…
A timestamp basically states that your design existed at a certain point in time. Something that can be very interesting to have in case of copyright infringement. You’ll now be able to show you were indeed the first to have designed something.
